Fans are delighted with Southgate’s 23-man World Cup 2018 squad

Gareth Southgate’s 23-man World Cup 2018 squad made their first match appearance on the 15th and with a 2-1 victory against Tunisia fans are currently happy at Southgate’s choices, in particular a Mr Harry Kane, who scored both of England’s goals in that match.

There are some fans, however, that don’t agree with the whole line-up, should a more senior player have been chosen over 19-year old Trent Alexander-Arnold. Some fans feel that talent has been overlooked for the squad.

Some may have liked to see Celtic left midfielder Scott Sinclair make the team, but after a public snub by Southgate in October 2017, claiming, “He’s a good player but we have good quality in that area of the pitch. At the moment I think he is just below the level of what we have already got.” it wasn’t likely to happen. Just as well as his fiancé, Coronation Street actress Helen Flannigan, is due their second child in the next few weeks.

On the other hand, not many fans were surprised to see Nile Ranger’s name left off Southgate’s selection. The striker, who had his Southend united contract terminated at the beginning of this year and spent a stint in prison for online banking fraud, definitely wasn’t on the top of anyone’s list for Russia.

The infographic below shows the top of the snubbed for England’s squad, along with their stats. Are there any on the list that you think would have bettered England World Cup odds of winning based on the individuals’ performances in the World Cup so far?
